Our Story

Dead Poets Co. Story-

Dead Poets wasn’t born from a single moment of inspiration it’s a story that unfolded over time, shaped by a blend of personal history, travel, and a deep passion for creating.

My grandfather was an opal and gold miner. The gold he found fuelled adventures around the world with my grandmother a journey that still fascinates me today. We still hold onto some of the opal he mined, with a few pieces already cut and polished for jewellery, and the rest still in its raw, unrefined state. My dream is to take those untouched rocks and transform them into wearable art that tells a story.

A turning point came while I was in Florence, where I encountered a jeweller creating bespoke pieces with a raw, industrial, almost mechanical style. That’s when I realized: jewellery doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to fit any conventional mold. It can be anything you want it to be.

Drawing and creating have always been part of who I am. When I discovered the possibility of combining my love for design with jewellery, carving wax and etching my ideas became the perfect outlet. What started as a passion soon grew into something bigger.

For years, I worked in a full-time job that I once loved, but over time, it lost its spark. I had quickly climbed the ladder, but the work no longer aligned with the person I wanted to be. It got to the point where I couldn’t keep showing up with a fake face, pretending to be something I wasn’t. My dreams were calling, and it was time to answer.

With everything I’ve learned and a mix of inspiration from family, travel, and my own creative journey, I found a ring-making and wax-carving class on the Central Coast. After a couple sessions, I set up a workbench at home and started experimenting. Before long, I realized I had something I could build into a business a way to share my passion for creating something bold, raw, and completely unique.

Dead Poets Co. is more than just jewellery it’s a celebration of individuality, a defiance of perfection, and a commitment to craftsmanship that’s as wild and untamed as the opals my grandfather mined.

Why Dead Poets Co.?

A question I get asked often is, "Why Dead Poets Co.?" The name carries a few layers of meaning for me.

Firstly, the film Dead Poets Society, where Robin Williams’ character breathes life into the idea of seizing the day and thinking for yourself. It’s a story of rebellion through art, of breaking free from conformity, and daring to pursue your truth. That spirit of challenging the status quo and writing your own verse.

On another level, I grew up listening to legends like Biggie Smalls and Tupac. Both were artists who were tragically taken too soon, but their music spoke to raw truths. They came from backgrounds where no one expected them to make it, but they relentlessly chased their dreams and changed the world with their voices. Their stories of overcoming adversity and staying true to themselves echo the spirit of Dead Poets Co.

In a way, Dead Poets Co. is a tribute to those who dare to be different, those who pursue their passions without fear, and those who leave a lasting impact, no matter how imperfect the journey.
