Workshops at Dead Poets Co
At Dead Poets Co, we offer two unique workshops that explore the artistry of jewellery making: Introduction to Silversmithing and the
Ancient Art of Wax Carving and Sand Casting. Whether you're new to jewellery creation or simply looking to try something new, these workshops provide a fun and creative experience, no prior jewellery making experience required!
What You Get:
Introduction to Silversmithing:
In this hands on workshop, you’ll have the option to create either two 2mm stackable bands or one 4mm band. You’ll start with wire, measuring and cutting it to size, bending it into shape, and soldering it together. From there, you’ll use hammers and stamps to add texture and patterns before polishing your piece to your desired finish. This workshop typically lasts 2–3 hours.
Ancient Art of Wax Carving and Sand Casting:
This immersive 5–6 hour workshop guides you through the process of carving your desired ring design from wax, creating a mould with Delft clay, and then melting and pouring metal into the mould to cast your piece. Afterward, you'll refine your creation through cutting, filing, and polishing. Please note that this workshop is ideal for experimenting with shapes and textures, fine details may not transfer well due to the nature of sand casting. Lunch is provided during this session.
Both Workshops Include:
- Guidance from a skilled instructor specializing in ring-making techniques.
- A personal and intimate experience with fellow creative individuals.
- All materials, including sterling silver, and full access to professional tools and equipment.
- A relaxed, welcoming environment.
- Refreshing drinks and snacks to keep you energized throughout.
Please note: These workshops involve the use of sharp tools and open flames and are available to participants aged 18 and over.
